Lady Bronco Silver Team traveled to Conroe on Monday, March 4 to compete at in the 5A Region 3 Preview on Tuesday. The tournament was held at The Golf Club at Margaritaville, which will be the site for the Regional Tournament in April. It was great tournament with great weather. Two golfers had personal best rounds and knowledge and experience of the course was gained by everyone. Lady Bronco Silver finished 3rd, shooting a 362, behind two of the teams that advanced last year: Montgomery Lake Creek and Montgomery. It was great to see the potential of the team start to shine.
Freshman Carly Marshall had another great day on the course. Marshall shot a +3, 74. She was in third place going into the last hole and managed to pull off a par after just missing a birdie, while her competitor bogeyed, to pull into second place. Marshall has placed in the top five individually in every tournament she has played in this year. She had two birdies on the day.
Junior Riley Clawson continued to show that she, too, is a name to be recognized. Clawson shot a personal best 88, one stroke better than her personal best earlier this year at Sammons. She had 7 pars on the day and finished 15th individually.
Kat Moore, another Junior, also had a career day. Moore shot a 93, which is four strokes better than her previous low round. She shot 97 at Delaware Springs in 2021. Moore finished 18th individually and also had 7 pars.
Senior Shelby Chaney proved to be consistent and reliable as always. After a rough two holes to start, she managed to put together a good round, shooting 107. She had one par on the day and six bogeys.
Sophomore Jackie Couture finished out the scoring for the Silver Team. It was her first major tournament. She had one par.
Another freshman, Lyliana Gonzalez, made her Silver Team debut as a medalist at the Regional Preview. Gonzalez shot a very good 108 for her first major tournament and had a par on the last hole of the day.
Silver Team will be joining with the Red Team on March 21 to play in the Belton ISD Tournament. It will be held at Stonetree in Killeen. This tournament will determine final teams and placements for the district tournament, which will be held at Stonetree on March 25 and 26.
