Lake Girls Show Competitiveness at Eagle Relays

In what would turn into a blustery afternoon and evening, the Lake Girls track team traveled to Georgetown last Friday to compete in the Eagle Relays. Battling wind gusts in excess of 30mph and a constant wind speed of around 20 mph our athletes learned to race and compete despite weather conditions. 37 entries earned points for the Broncos across both varsity and junior varsity teams against some of the best competition in the state.

Abby Rydberg and Taylor Love once again matched their personal best marks in the pole vault earning 2nd and 6th place respectively. Callie Mock bettered her mark by 6 inches to finish 5th in the junior varsity pole vault division.

Our high jump crew performed well once again with Dannika Kelly clearing 5 feet for a second place finish and the rest of the crew with a clearance of 4-10 earning the sixth spot in the varsity and the top two spots in the junior varsity division. Long jump had a solid showing as well with 3 personal best jumps all earning points. Across the complex at the throwing rings four of our discus throwers threw personal best marks as well with two of those marks far enough to be point getters.

On the running side eight entries earned top 3 finishes: Alexa Harbour in the JV girls 100m hurdles, Emily Bachicha in the varsity girls 100m Mykenna Johnston in the JV girls 100m, Chelsie Miller in the varsity girls 400m, Kinleigh Fulton in the JV girls 400m, Maranda Armstrong with a victory in the varsity 300m hurdles, the varsity sprint relay team of Berrian, Bella Garcia, Elianna Watson, and Aleya Russell, and the mile relay team of Miller, Armstrong, Bachicha, and Berrian with a hard fought victory.
