LAKE BEATS SHOEMAKER IN DISTRICT OPENER

The Lake Belton Bronco Varsity Baseball Team defeated Shoemaker by a score of 3-2 in the District 22-5A opener for both teams. Shoemaker took a 2-0 lead into the 4th inning, before the Broncos were able to scratch across single runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings. Clint Beck and Peyton Flanagan each produced an RBI to tie the game, before a sacrifice fly by Cameron Bartz drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 6th. Matt Stanford went the distance on the mound for the win, walking 2 and striking out 4 in the winning effort. The Broncos will return to action on Friday for game 2 of the series as they travel to Shoemaker. First pitch at Charger 6 Field is schedule for 7 p.m.
