The Lake Boys powerlifting had their best finish ever at the state meet in Abilene this weekend when they were proudly represented by the awesome trio of senior Adam Walden, and juniors Seth Fritz and Christian Morales. Each young man put their career best performances up against the strongest in the state and not only held their own, but flourished.
Seth Fritz worked through the day squatting, pressing, and pulling his way to his career best total of 1040 lbs. and earning a 5th place after winning a dramatic tiebreaker! His day was highlighted by an amazing 260 lb. bench press where he successfully lifted over twice is bodyweight off of his chest!
Adam Walden also had a career day totaling an impressive 1700 lbs.! His day was also highlighted by a mammoth bench press of 460 lbs. Adam's efforts earned him a tie for 5th place as well, however, he unfortunately did not win his tiebreaker causing him to officially finish 6th. Adam's amazing career finishes with an outstanding 3rd trip to the state meet and back to back region 2 championships in 23 and 24. Adam has put Lake Powerlifting on the map in its infancy and we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to watch him compete for 4 years in the sport.
The day was highlighted by Christian Morales' outstanding performance. Christian needed the most outstanding deadlift of the meet on the lightweight platform to secure a 2nd place overall finish. He fought the weight, stayed patient, and successfully achieved 3 white lights to complete this feat. This gave Christian a 1065 total, a 2nd place finish, and the award for most outstanding deadlift on the lightweight platform.
This meet concluded another amazing powerlifting season, and we can't wait for what is in store in 25! Fritz and Morales will be back to lead the charge and we expect some younger guys to step up and continue to build the legacy of Lake Powerlifting.
