Lake girl’s were 5A District 22 runner-up last week but the performances weren’t lacking.
Qualifying 15 athletes to the area meet across 11 events, setting 5 new school records, and bringing home personal best marks 30 times marked the final meet of the regular season.

The field events kicked off on Wednesday with Abigail Rydberg winning the varsity pole vault and Brynley Haynes coming in fourth. Dannika Kelley earned a silver medal in windy conditions during the varsity girls high jump earning a trip to the area meet as well while Katie Firmin had a spectacular meet coming home as JV High Jump Champion with a school record tying jump. Allie Uzzell held strong in the varsity shot put to finish second and punch her ticket to the next round for the second year in a row. Thursday running finals saw both heartbreak and celebration. The 4x100 relay team finished with the bronze medal after running a new school record time and Chelsie Miller earned the title of district champion in two events, the 400 & 800. 11 of 12 hurdle entries qualified to Thursday’s finals. Coco Camacho ran a big PR to qualify in 4th to the area meet in the 100m hurdles while Kelley ran a new school record to advance in the 300m hurdles. Moriah Rydberg was district champion in the JV division 300m hurdles.
Lake claimed District Champion spots in the JV and V 400m dash with Chelsie Miller and Moriah Rydberg respectively. Miller brought home a new school record and broke the 60 second barrier for the first time while Nylah Berrian brought home the bronze medal, a new personal best, and a trip to the area meet as well.
