In her first year as a Lady Bronco golfer, Freshman Carly Marshall has re-written the record books. She holds the record for the lowest round (70) and lowest two day round (143). She also holds the record for most tournaments won in a season with six. She also has three top five finishes. And now, she can add State Qualifier to her already impressive resume.
Marshall played in her first Regional Tournament this year representing District 22-5A as the Individual Champion, as well as on the Championship Team.
On day one Marshall shot an 80. There was some anxiousness about being in the first Regional Tournament and it showed. She was +9 after the first 11 holes, then was able to turn it around. The last seven holes of the day she went -1. She had one birdie and 11 pars. She was tied for seventh place individually after day one.
Day two was a night and day difference. Carly was relaxed and ready to continue the day that way she finished her previous day.
She finished her first nine, four over par, which was 3 strokes better than her +7 on day 1. She played the last ten holes even par. She shot a four over par 76. She had three birdies, ten pars on day two.
Her two day total was 156. Her +12 for the tournament put her in 7th place for the tournament. In order to advance to state, a golfer has to be one of the top three medalists that is not on a qualifying team. Marshall was the third medalist to qualify behind the individual championship and the third place individual medalist.
Carly will play for the 5A State Championship on May 6 and 7 at Legacy Hills in Sun City.
