On Friday, April 19, the girls track and field regional qualifiers traveled to Humble, TX to participate in the 5A Region III Track and Field Championships at Turner Stadium.

The 4x200 relay team of Nylah Berrian (so.), Bella Garcia (so.), Aleya Russell (so.), and Elianna Watson (so.) ran an exceptional preliminary race breaking the school record and advancing to Saturday's finals. Following their performance, junior Chelsie Miller ran a great 400m preliminary race tying her personal best and current school record; good enough to qualify her on to Saturday's final as well.

Despite less than ideal conditions with off and on rain showers, junior Abigail Rydberg kicked off Saturday morning for us with a second place podium finish qualifying her for the UIL State Track & Field Championships for the second year in a row. Prior to the start of running finals Saturday afternoon, the meet was put on its first weather delay of the day. After what would end up to be two weather delays, the girls 4x200 team, comprised of four sophomores finished 8th in 5A Region III and junior Chelsie Miller finished her year 7th in the 5A Region III 400m.

We look forward to representing Lake Belton High School at the UIL State Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 3 at 3:00pm where Rydberg looks to improve on last year's state performance in the pole vault.
