SEVEN ATHLETES QUALIFY TO 5A REGION III TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Seven Athletes Qualify to 5A Region III Track & Field Championships

On Thursday April 11, 2024, the girls track team traveled to Magnolia to compete in the 5A Area 21/22 Track & Field Championships and represented Lake in 10 events.

Of those events, three advanced on to the 5A Region III Track & Field Championships on April 19 and 20 in Humble, TX at Turner Stadium. Abigail Rydberg, Chelsie Miller, and the 4x200 relay were the advancing participants.

Abigail Rydberg finished 2nd place in pole vault and the 4x200 relay finished in 4th place bringing home a new school record. Chelsie Miller finished in 6th place in the 400m and was granted the opportunity to compete at the regional meet after scratches from other area finishers.

Shreya Muni with a personal best time in the 800 and the 4x400 team of Chelsie Miller, Maranda Armstrong, Nylah Berrian, and Moriah Rydberg finished one spot out of qualification. Allie Uzzell in the shot put, Dannika Kelley in the 300m hurdles, and the 4x100 relay team finished in 6th place. Coco Camacho and Shreya Muni finished 7th place in the 100m hurdles and the 3200m respectively. Dannika Kelly and Brynley Haynes finished 8th in the high jump and pole vault respectively.

We look forward to continuing our season next week at the Region III Championships in Humble.
