The Lake Belton Junior Varsity Red football team kicked off their 2024 season on the road against the A&M Consolidated Tigers. The Broncos were determined to start the season strong with a victory. Captaining the team this week were Cohen Beaird and Alexander Richardson. The game began with the defense asserting their dominance over the opposition. The offense also showed early success by driving the ball down a short  field, culminating in a 16-yard touchdown run by Damian Thong. Hudson Jez's successful extra point made the score 7-0. The Broncos' defense responded with a safety forced by Levy Tarrance Crotty and several other Broncos. Despite the Broncos' initial momentum, the Tigers fought back with successful runs to put points on the board. The Broncos managed to stop the Tigers' PAT attempt. Strong quarterback play, particularly Jayden Dent's running ability, led to another touchdown for the Broncos. Hudson Jez's successful PAT extended the lead. The Tigers showed resilience by returning a kickoff for a touchdown, but their PAT attempt failed. The Broncos answered back with a successful offensive drive, highlighted by excellent perimeter blocking from the wide receivers. Ke’odderick Mayo's touchdown run sealed the victory for the Broncos.
Standout defensive players of the game included Blake Baty, Jamari Haye (who had an interception), and Prince Kabuya, whose exceptional performances helped maintain momentum for the Broncos. The offensive line and wide receiver crew were also standout performers. The Broncos finished the game with a 22-12 victory, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.
