The Lake Belton Junior Varsity Red football team faced off against the LaVega Pirates on the road in a highly anticipated match-up. The Broncos were determined to continue their winning streak and put on a strong performance. Leading the team this week were captains Jamari Haye and Jack Maybee, who provided excellent leadership on and off the field. The game started as a defensive battle, with both teams showcasing their skills and not allowing much room for the opposing offenses to score. Despite La Vega managing to make some explosive plays, their failed extra point attempts kept the game close. In the second half, the Broncos' offense executed a methodical drive that resulted in a scoring drive with a touchdown run by Jack Maybee, bringing the score to 12-6. The defense continued to shine, forcing turnovers and making crucial stops to give the offense opportunities to score. With less than a minute remaining in the game, the Broncos' offense drove down the field and attempted a field goal to break the tie, but unfortunately, the attempt was unsuccessful, resulting in a 12-12 tie. The defense played exceptionally well, with forced fumbles from Prince Kabuya and Roger Hunt. Defense saw pressures and sacks from Brendan Nash. Pirates had several fumbles recovered by AJ Peters, Ross O’dell, Kaleb Leza. On the night several picks were grabbed by Deandre Griffith and Andrew Moore. Bronco offense saw a good performance from Keagan Hedrick and Jayden Cervantes. Overall, it was a hard-fought game that showcased the talent and determination of the Lake Belton Junior Varsity Red football team.
