The Lady Broncos continue their hot streak as they go 6-0 in the 2024 BISD Sub Varsity Showdown finishing in first place. The Lady Broncos had another great weekend as they have now won back to back tournaments.
Day 1: The Lady Broncos matched up against Lampasas 25-10 / 25-14, Georgetown 25-17 / 25-20, and China Springs 20-25 / 25-22 / 15-10, winning all three matches and losing only one set.
Day 2: The Lady Broncos matched up against Killeen 25-12 / 25-7, Ellison 25-15 / 25-19, Belton 25-17 / 25-14, and Salado 25-21 / 25-16 wining all four matches and taking home the championship.
The Lady Broncos exhibited an aggressive and relentless offensive approach as they executed high-speed attacks led by outside hitters Juliet Faleafine-Allen, Betsy Navarro and right side hitters Haylee Kasner, Ayaana Omisola, and Kaylieana Dickey-Garcia. Of course, none of this could have been accomplished without the accurate sets from Olivia Maldonado, who also had a terrific weekend behind the serving line accounting for a total of thirteen aces.
The defensive line for the Lady Broncos was a fortress with both Aleksee Lutz and Morgan Campbell's well-timed blocks and blistering spikes on free balls. The back row's ability to dig out spikes and accurately receive serves was instrumental in the Lady Broncos success. The back row was led by defensive specialists Haylee Kasner, Kenna Morrison, Camryn Mikulas, Avery Reinhardt, and Grace White. Lets not forget about Avery Kaiser, even though she was unable to play due to injury, she found a way to keep the energy levels high for both the players on and off the court.
The Lady Broncos dominate performance throughout the tournament is a testament to the continuous hard-work and long hours that these girls have put in as student athletes. This weekend was a well-deserved victory for the Freshman Silver Lady Broncos.
The Lady Broncos have non-district games on Tuesday and Friday this week and then they will play in their final tournament of the season next Saturday in Georgetown, Texas.
