The Lake Belton High School swim team had a competitive showing at the recent quad meet against Austin High School, Belton High School, and New Tech High School on October 8th. The girls’ team highlighted strong performances in various events, including the 200 Yard Freestyle, where Gweneth Clark finished second with a time of 2:09.38 setting a new team record, and Christine Kim placed second in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:32.21 setting a new team record. The girls’ 200 Yard Medley Relay A team secured a second-place finish with a time of 2:12.60, and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team placed second, clocking in at 4:14.56.
The boys’ team also put in notable performances, particularly in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, where the A team took second place with a time of 1:52.36. Conner Florea had a solid swim in the 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing first with a time of 2:01.50, while David Stewart III secured first in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (IM). In the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, the Lake Belton boys’ team achieved a first-place finish, clocking in at 3:43.75.
Overall, the Lake Belton High School swimmers demonstrated perseverance and improvement throughout the meet, competing fiercely against their opponents. While there were some tight races, the team’s strong relay finishes and standout individual performances highlighted their hard work and potential for future meets. With a mix of underclassmen and upperclassmen contributing, the team is poised for continued success this season.
