The Lady Bronco Silver and Red Golf Teams competed in a new type of tournament for them on Wednesday, October 30. It was a par 3, best ball tournament hosted by Belton New Tech at Stone Tree Golf Course. Stone Tree will be the site of the District Girls Golf Tournament in March so this was a great opportunity for the teams to test their short game skills on an important course.
The Silver Team won the tournament by 8 strokes, shooting a one over par 55, with the modified scoring for a par 3 best ball tournament.
Sophomore Carly Marshall lead the Silver Team shooting a +1 55. She carded two birdies and 13 pars. It was good enough for another individual win for her bringing her to 8 individual wins in her young high school career.
Senior Kat Moore finished 3rd overall and had the 2nd best score for the Silver Team. Moore shot a 70, which included 7 pars.
With the third best finish on the Silver Team was Sophomore Lyliana Gonzalez. Lyliana shot a 78, which included 2 pars.
Junior Suellen Tillis shot an 81 on the day with 2 pars and Sophomore Lillie Mikes shot an 89.
There was also a costume contest and the Silver Team won the girls division dressing up as members of Scooby Doo.
The Red Team finished 4th overall in the Par 3 Tournament. They shot a team score of 80 with the modified par 3, best ball format.
Leading the way for the Red Team was Sophomore Reese Sexton. Sexton just moved up to the Red Team for this tournament and played well. She shot an 81.
Next was Freshman Aurora Nance with an 85, which included one par. Another Freshman, Kaylee Carubelli was next for the Red Team shooting an 87, followed by Junior Nena Tamarez with an 89.
This tournament wraps up the fall season for the Silver Team. Carly Marshall will be playing in the State Preview on November 8 and 9. The rest of the Silver Team will join her in February at the Regional Preview at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro.
The Red Team has one more tournament this fall. They will be playing in the Waco ISD Invitational at Cottonwood on November 13.
