In their season opener last night, the Lake Belton girls basketball team faced off against the Shoemaker Grey Wolves, falling 64-38 in a hard-fought battle. The Lady Broncos came out strong, demonstrating their determination early in the game.

The first quarter was tightly contested, with the score standing at 6-7 in favor of the Grey Wolves. However, the second quarter marked a turning point for Lake Belton, as they outscored Shoemaker 17-13. By halftime, the Lady Broncos had a narrow lead, 23-20, showcasing their potential and grit.

Unfortunately, the second half presented a different challenge. Lake Belton struggled to find their rhythm, and Shoemaker capitalized on the opportunity, outscoring the Broncos 24-6 in the third quarter. The Grey Wolves continued to extend their lead in the final quarter, ultimately closing the game with a score of 64-38.

Despite the loss, there were bright spots for the Lady Broncos. Alexa King led all scorers with an impressive 25 points, demonstrating her offensive prowess. Amara Sanchez contributed 6 points and made her presence felt on the boards with strong rebounding efforts.

The Lady Broncos are determined to regroup and improve as they prepare for their next game. They will be back in action on November 5, 2024, against Killeen High School, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM. The team looks forward to bouncing back and showing their true potential as the season progresses. Go Broncos!
