The Lake Belton Lady Broncos Junior Varsity basketball team came up just short in a hard-fought battle against the LaVega Pirates on Tuesday night, falling 40-45. Despite a slow start and an early deficit, the Lady Broncos battled back with a much-improved performance in the second half, but couldn’t quite overcome the gap.

From the opening tip, the Lady Broncos struggled to find their rhythm offensively, trailing 13-21 at halftime. The Pirates capitalized on the slow start, taking advantage of turnovers and defensive lapses to build a sizable lead.

However, the Lady Broncos were far from giving up. They came out of the locker room in the second half with renewed intensity, outscoring LaVega 13-9 in the third quarter and 14-12 in the fourth. The rally was a testament to the team’s grit and determination, but they couldn’t make up the difference, as the Pirates held on to their slim lead to secure the 45-40 victory.

Leading the Charge
Eowyn Bistol led the Lady Broncos in scoring with 11 points, providing much-needed offense in a game that saw several players step up in key moments. Aryanna Teague contributed heavily with her rebounding efforts, scoring 8 points while controlling the boards. Defensively, Keyalah Bradley anchored the Lady Broncos’ efforts, contributing 7 points while helping stifle LaVega’s scoring in the second half.

Next Up
Though the Lady Broncos fell short in this contest, their resilience in the second half shows the potential for the rest of the season. They will look to build on this performance as they prepare for their upcoming games at the Georgetown Tournament, set for Thursday and Saturday.

The Lady Broncos will need to carry the momentum from their strong finish into their next matchups as they continue to improve and grow as a team.
