Broncos Show Resilience in Tough Matchup Against Salado

The Lake Belton High School Broncos fought hard but ultimately fell short in their matchup against Saldo High School on Saturday November 16, ending the game with a 63-41 loss. Despite the outcome, the Broncos displayed moments of strength and determination, particularly in the second half of the game.

First Half Struggles
The Broncos faced early challenges, scoring only 10 points in the first quarter and just 5 in the second. While SHS capitalized on their offensive opportunities, the Broncos struggled to convert, trailing 32-15 at halftime.

Second Half Resurgence
Coming out of the break, LBHS regrouped and showed significant improvement, doubling their first-half total with 26 points in the second half. They were particularly strong in the fourth quarter, outscoring SHS 15-13, a testament to their relentless spirit and ability to adjust mid-game.

Key Performances

Gemma Pierce contributed 8 points, including a three-pointer.
Alexa King was a force on the boards, grabbing 9 total rebounds, including 6 offensive rebounds. Her hustle on both ends of the court earned her 13 points, leading all LBHS scorers.
Ariella Polley contributed to the Broncos with 5 points, including a clutch three-pointer and a perfect 2-for-2 performance at the free-throw line.
Defensively, Natalie Maldonado and Amara Sanchez stood out, with 2 deflections each. Aniya Victorian contributed an impressive 3 steals, showcasing the Broncos’ effort to disrupt Salado's offense.

Looking Ahead
The Broncos will use this game as a learning experience as they prepare for their next matchup against Midway. With the right adjustments and continued hard work, LBHS is poised to bounce back and show their competitive edge. They will be back in action on Tuesday November 19 at Home against Midway at 7pm.
