Lake Belton Dominates the Lanes at Quad Meet

The Lake Belton Swim Team made waves at the November 20 quad meet against Rouse, Belton High School (BHS), and New Tech High School (NTHS), earning several top-three finishes across various events. The Boys 400-yard Freestyle Relay team of Conner Florea, David Stewart III, Kieran Scott, and Samuel Stevens stole the spotlight with a first-place time of 3:40.02, showcasing their strength and coordination. On the girls’ side, Christine Kim, Gweneth Clark, Elizabeth Simeroth, and Rowan Sebek delivered a strong second-place finish in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, clocking in at 4:06.13. Additionally, the Boys 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of David Stewart III, Conner Florea, Kieran Scott, and Elijah Firkins claimed second place with a time of 1:40.20.

In individual events, Christine Kim dominated, taking first in the Girls 100-yard Butterfly with 1:03.58 and the Girls 100-yard Breaststroke in 1:14.74. Gweneth Clark’s second-place finish in the Girls 200-yard Individual Medley (2:27.12) and third place in the 100-yard Backstroke (1:09.24) highlighted her versatility. On the boys’ side, David Stewart III added to his accolades with a first-place finish in the Boys 100-yard Butterfly at 58.18 and a second-place showing in the 100-yard Backstroke, clocking 1:00.53. Kaleb Vazquez secured third in the Boys 200-yard Freestyle (2:07.51), while Brooke Phillips contributed with a third-place swim in the Girls 200-yard Individual Medley (2:35.95).

The team’s relays and individual contributions were complemented by strong performances from younger swimmers, hinting at a promising future for Lake Belton. The meet not only underscored the depth of talent on the team but also reinforced the skills that the athletes have been working on this season. As the season progresses, the team looks poised to build on its momentum and prepare for Districts.
