The Lake Belton High School freshman girls basketball team showcased resilience and growth during the Sub-Varsity Tournament this past weekend. Though the team faced stiff competition, their effort and determination throughout the three games provided valuable experience for the young squad.
Game 1: Temple 35, Lake Belton 16
The tournament tipped off with a challenging matchup against Temple High School. Lake Belton struggled to find an offensive rhythm against Temple's staunch defense, ultimately falling 35-16. Despite the loss, the team displayed moments of strong defense, holding their opponents to limited scoring runs in key stretches.
Game 2: A&M Consolidated 50, Lake Belton 36
In their second game, the Broncos put up an improved performance against A&M Consolidated. Lake Belton’s offense found its groove, with several players stepping up to contribute. However, A&M Consol’s consistent shooting and ability to capitalize on turnovers gave them the upper hand, resulting in a 50-36 defeat for Lake Belton.
Game 3: East View 33, Lake Belton 28
The final game of the tournament was the closest contest for the Broncos, showcasing their progress. Lake Belton battled fiercely against East View in a hard-fought matchup. Despite a strong defensive effort and a late-game surge, the Broncos came up just short, falling 33-28.
