The Lake Belton Lady Broncos continued their strong district campaign with an impressive 62-54 victory over the Waco High Lady Lions on January 10. The game was played in front of an enthusiastic home crowd during Middle School Night, where the Lady Broncos celebrated the future of their program by honoring athletes from Lake Belton Middle School.

The Lady Broncos started strong, posting 15 points in each of the first two quarters while holding the Lady Lions to 14 and 15 points, respectively. The teams remained evenly matched heading into the third, with both squads scoring 13 points. However, the Lady Broncos pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Waco High 19-12 to seal the victory.

The standout performance of the night came from Natalie Maldonado (#11), who led the team with 15 points, including eight clutch free throws on 11 attempts. Layla King (#2) and Alexa King (#10) also contributed significantly, scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively. Ariella Polley (#4) added 8 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, while Amara Sanchez (#30) and Aniya Victorian (#25) each chipped in 6 points. The Lady Broncos displayed excellent teamwork, with multiple players contributing in key moments.

Defensively, Alexa King anchored the team with 8 rebounds, while Ariella Polley added 5 boards. The Lady Broncos’ effort on both ends of the floor was evident, as they limited the Lady Lions’ scoring opportunities and secured crucial possessions late in the game.

The evening was not just about basketball. During halftime, the Lady Broncos took a moment to recognize the young athletes from Lake Belton Middle School, celebrating their dedication to the sport and encouraging them to aspire to greatness in the future. The special ceremony added a sense of pride and community to the night.

With the win, the Lady Broncos improved to 2-1 in district play and will look to build on their momentum in their next game. They return to action on January 14, hosting Chaparral High School at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to pack the gym and show their support as the Lady Broncos aim for another victory in their push for district success.
