Lake Belton Girls Basketball Falls To Chaparral

The Lake Belton Lady Broncos faced a tough challenge on January 14 at home against the Chaparral Lady Bobcats, ultimately falling short in a 78-46 loss. Despite the defeat, the Lady Broncos showed determination and grit throughout the game, especially in the second quarter when they outscored Chaparral 19-9 to narrow the deficit heading into halftime.

The game opened with Chaparral taking an early lead, scoring 21 points in the first quarter compared to Lake Belton's 9. While the Lady Broncos rallied in the second quarter, Chaparral regained momentum in the second half, outscoring Lake Belton 23-4 in the third quarter and 25-14 in the fourth.

Leading the charge for the Lady Broncos was #10 Alexa King, who scored 16 points on 7-for-17 shooting, including two three-pointers. She also contributed three rebounds, five deflections, and a block in her 32 minutes on the court. #11 Natalie Maldonado added six points and four assists, while #24 Alaysha Williams chipped in six points and three rebounds off the bench.

Despite the loss, the Lady Broncos demonstrated resilience and flashes of strong play, particularly in their defensive efforts during the second quarter. The team will look to regroup and refine their game plan as they continue district play. With this game, the Lady Broncos’ district record now stands at 2-2.

The Lady Broncos will be back in action on January 17, traveling to Waco to take on University High School at 7 p.m. The team remains focused on improving and making a strong push as the district season progresses. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Lady Broncos as they aim to bounce back and secure another victory.
