The Lake Belton Lady Broncos continued their stellar season with a commanding 50-36 victory over the University Lady Trojans on January 17 in Waco. The game showcased the Broncos' balanced scoring attack and strong defensive presence as they secured an important district win.

From the opening tip, the Lady Broncos established their rhythm. In the first quarter, they edged out the Trojans 11-10, setting the tone for the rest of the game. The second quarter saw Lake Belton pull ahead with an impressive 18-point performance, entering halftime with a solid lead. The Lady Broncos maintained their momentum through the second half, scoring 13 points in the third quarter and closing out the game with an 8-point fourth quarter.

Key contributors for Lake Belton included Layla King, Ariella Polley, and Alexa King, each scoring in double digits. Layla King led the team with a game-high +11 efficiency, contributing 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 deflections while hitting three shots from beyond the arc. Ariella Polley was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, including two three-pointers, and added 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Alexa King chipped in 8 points and provided strong defensive pressure with 4 steals and a block.

Natalie Maldonado was instrumental in facilitating the offense, leading the team with 7 assists and contributing 7 points. The Lady Broncos’ defensive efforts were highlighted by their ability to force turnovers and maintain consistent pressure throughout the game.
