Lake Belton High School had a strong showing at the 2025 Region VI-5A Swimming & Diving Championships, securing multiple top-eight finishes and demonstrating depth across various events. Christine Kim delivered standout performances, finishing second in both the Girls 50-yard Freestyle and the Girls 100-yard Freestyle qualifying for State. Freshman Gweneth Clark also made a splash, earning seventh place in the Girls 200-yard Freestyle. Elizabeth Simeroth and Brooke Phillips contributed valuable points, with Simeroth finishing 10th in the Girls 100-yard Backstroke and Phillips securing 11th place in the Girls 100-yard Breaststroke. The Girls 400-yard Freestyle Relay team—consisting of Kim, Clark, Simeroth, and Phillips—finished fifth overall.
On the boys' side, the 200-yard Medley Relay team of Elijah Firkins, Joshua Naumann, Kaleb Vazquez, and Samuel Stevens placed ninth in the finals. The Boys 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Stewart, Scott, Florea, and Firkins placed fifth, adding crucial points to the team’s overall total. Individually, Florea and Scott both qualified for finals in the Boys 100-yard Butterfly, with Florea finishing ninth in prelims and Scott making the consolation final. Firkins qualified for the 100 Back consolation final and broke the minute for first time. Additionally, the 400-yard Freestyle Relay team of David Stewart III, Conner Florea, Kieran Scott, and Naumann earned a strong sixth-place finish.
Overall, Lake Belton secured a seventh-place finish in both the girls’ and boys’ team standings, scoring 128 and 135 points, respectively. Their strong relay performances and individual top-eight finishes highlighted the depth and talent of the team. With standout athletes like David Stewart, Christine Kim, Elizabeth Simeroth, Gwen Clark, and Brooke Phillips, along with key contributions from the boys’ relay teams, Lake Belton continues to establish itself as a competitive force in regional swimming. The team has continued to build on their success through season. They have shown mental toughness throughout season and that was shown clearly at Region. With all the success had at region, we are excited to have five athletes this year move on to State!
