The Lake Belton Freshmen Red football team delivered a commanding performance Thursday night, defeating McNeil High School 28-8 in a game defined by offensive balance and defensive dominance.
Running back Amari Nealy set the tone early, breaking through the McNeil defense for a strong rushing touchdown that gave the Broncos early momentum. Da’marrion Torres-Hughes added to the scoring, showcasing his versatility with two touchdowns—one on the ground and another on a pass connection from quarterback Gunner Rich.
The defense, however, stole the spotlight. Austin Williamson capitalized on a McNeil miscue, scooping up a fumble and taking it to the end zone for a momentum-shifting score. The Broncos’ secondary also locked down McNeil’s passing attack, with Nicholas Villarreal and Rush Blair each grabbing an interception to shut down potential scoring drives.
With the 28-8 victory, the Lake Belton Freshmen Red squad continues to build confidence and move to 2-0 on the season.
