The Bronco football team hit the road Wednesday night, traveling to Brownwood to take on the Lions. Despite a tough 26–6 loss, the Broncos showed grit, resilience, and signs of growth as they continue their search for their first win of the season.
Early Struggles
The Lions struck first in the opening quarter when they capitalized on a pick-six, putting them ahead without needing their offense to reach the endzone. The Bronco offense, meanwhile, struggled to find a rhythm in the first half, unable to get on the scoreboard. By halftime, Brownwood had built an 18–0 lead.
Second-Half Spark
Coming out of the break, the Broncos refused to fold. Their determination paid off when quarterback Michael Stawski connected on a deep strike to Julian Martinez, who shook off a defender and sprinted into the endzone for the Broncos’ lone touchdown. The highlight-reel play showed the offensive potential the team is working to unlock.
Finishing Strong
Though the Lions would tack on more points to seal a 26–6 final, the Broncos played with heart until the last whistle. Their defense kept the Brownwood offense out of the endzone, and the offense showed flashes of progress compared to last week’s performance.
Looking Ahead
While the scoreboard didn’t favor the Broncos, the effort and improvement were undeniable. The team is growing week by week, learning to battle through adversity, and building confidence. They’ll look to carry this momentum into next week’s matchup as they continue their pursuit of the season’s first victory.
