The Lake Belton Boys Varsity Silver Golf Team competed in a grueling one day, 36-hole regional preview tournament at Tanglewood Country Club in Pottsboro on October 10th. After nine and a half hours of walking and carrying 35 pounds of equipment over 10 miles the boys finished the tournament in fourth place, missing third by a single stroke. The boys were led by Senior Miles Parker, who’s combined score of 151 strokes earned him a tie for second place. Senior Jackson Null carded a two-round total of 155, including a second-round score of 76 and a fourth-place finish overall. Jackson’s best hole of the day was at number 17 in the second round, (after golfing for nine hours!), he mishit is tee shot into trees, then hit a perfect cut five iron from 185 yards onto the green, 45 feet from the hole. A great two putt later and he escaped with a world-class par! Jackson was followed by senior Gavin Kerr who posted a combined score of 162, (including birdieing the par 5 third hole in both rounds!) which was good for 13th place in the tournament. Freshman Jackson Dolotina was fourth on the team with score of 192. That score included an incredible chip in for eagle on the sixth hole in the first round. Senior Brayden Hoff rounded out the team with a combined score of 197.
The Broncos will hit the course next at Wildflower Country Club on November the 3rd.
