The Lady Bronco Golf Teams closed out their fall season on Tuesday at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco. The tournament was previously scheduled for November 22 but was postponed due to forecasted inclement weather. Instead of storms, the teams got to play in the first cold weather tournament of the year. For many of the Lady Bronco golfers, it was their first experience playing in the cold, with temperatures near freezing at the start and included a frost delay.
Some of the girls were a little rusty coming off Thanksgiving break, but fought through and competed and gave their best.
The Silver Team finished 7th overall, shooting 441. They were lead by Junior Lyliana Gonzalez who shot 98. Lyliana had one par on the day, but played close to bogey golf. Her 98 was good enough to tie for 7th place and earned her a medal. She also shot lower than all other golfers in the district and what will be the district course.
Fellow junior Reese Sexton had the next lowest round for the Silver Team, shooting 107, right near her average. She also had one par.
Suellen Tillis, coming off a Thanksgiving break illness shot 117, followed by Junior Lillie Mikes with a 119. Sophomore Kaylee Carubelli had a 120.
The Red Team finished in 9th place and shot a 466. Freshmen Emory Jolivet led the way in scoring for the Red Team by shooting a 108. She was followed by Hayleigh McConnell with a 112 that included one par. Freshmen Kaylee Holler and Chloe Adkinson had the next lowest rounds, shooting 122 and 124 respectively. Sophomore Aurora Nance finished off the scoring shooting 125.
The girls golf teams will spend the rest of the semester focusing on the weight room and grades, as they prepare for the Spring season and district play.
The Red Team will be in action again on February 11 at Hidden Falls in Marble Falls. The Silver Team will have a two day tournament on Cottonwood on February 19 and 20.
