Wrestlers, Parents, and Guardians,
Last week was a busy and successful one, from Senior Night to hosting both JV and Varsity tournaments here at Lake Belton. This week we’ll get a little rest, host our final dual, and finish preparing for district tournaments.
I want to sincerely thank everyone for their help and participation in last week’s tournament. We could not have done any of this without the support of our athletes and parents. Thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to help with setup, cleanup, running the hospitality room, and jumping in wherever help was needed throughout Friday and Saturday. These tournaments are simply not possible without you.
Our athletes did a tremendous job working tables, stepping in whenever needed, and staying prepared. Everything transitioned smoothly because you were willing to help each other and take responsibility. The number of compliments we received from coaches, officials, administrators, and spectators was too many to count. We consistently heard that this was one of the best-run, most organized, and most enjoyable tournaments they had been part of this season. Thank you again for making it such a success.
Finally, thank you to our athletes for your competitiveness, adaptability, and—most importantly—your support of your teammates. At no point did we have to search for someone to be at a mat, work a table, or step into a corner. When a coach wasn’t immediately available, someone was already there to help. The enthusiasm, knowledge, and team culture of Lake Belton Wrestling were on full display, and that does not go unnoticed.
Practice Schedule This Week
Tuesday & Thursday: 4:45–6:15
Friday: 4:45–5:45
This will be our final week of full practice prior to district tournaments. There is no school or practice on Monday, January 19, so please use that time to recover and be ready for a strong week of work.
Wednesday Dual
Wednesday’s dual will be vs. Belton High only and has been moved to Lake Belton High School due to damage at the Belton High School gym. Varsity boys and girls will compete, and JV will be matched as best as possible. We will communicate which JV wrestlers will compete as soon as possible.
Start Time: 6:30 PM (Main Gym)
Wrestlers report to the locker room at 4:25 PM for weigh-in, uniforms, and meal
Gym setup will begin at 5:45 PM
Looking ahead to next week:
JV District will be held at Killeen Chaparral HS on Monday, January 26. Report times will be posted later this week.
Varsity District will be on Wednesday, January 28 at UMHB’s Mayborn Center. Varsity will practice Monday and Tuesday leading into district.
We are quickly approaching the end of the season. Let’s have a great week and polish things up as we head into district competition.
Coach Grimm
