The Lake Belton Lady Broncos closed out the first round of district play in dominant fashion, defeating University High School by a score of 75–27. From the opening tip, Lake Belton set the tone and led wire-to-wire in a complete team performance.
Lake Belton jumped out early, taking a 19–6 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Broncos continued to apply pressure on both ends of the floor, extending the lead to 38–17 by halftime. A strong third quarter proved decisive as Lake Belton poured in 23 points, pushing the advantage to 61–24 heading into the fourth. The defense then sealed the win, holding University High to just three points in the final period to secure the convincing victory.
Offensively, the Lady Broncos were led by Alexa King, who finished with 16 points. Aniya Taylor followed with 14 points, while Layla King added 10. Olivia Dann chipped in 9 points, and Erica Taylor and Ayaana Omisola each contributed 8. Ariella Polley scored 5 points, and Gemma Pierce added 3 points while providing strong defensive effort. Brylee scored 2 points and showcased excellent court vision, consistently setting up her teammates. Dannika Kelley brought energy off the bench, making an impact on the glass and on the defensive end.
With the win, Lake Belton improves to 28–1 overall and 5–0 in district play.
The Lady Broncos will be back in action on Tuesday, January 27, as they open the second round of district play at home against Belton High School, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
