The Lady Bronco Silver and Red Golf Teams competed at Belton New Tech's Annual Halloween Hack 'Em Par 3 Tournament on Thursday, October 29. The tournament was held at Stonetree Golf Course in Killeen. The par 73 course was shortened so each hole was the distance of a par 3. The tournament was a best score scramble. The par 3 set up helped both teams focus on their short game and the importance of it.
The tournament started beautifully when about four holes in the rains came. For several on the Silver Team and most of the Red Team it was their first time playing a tournament in the rain.
The Silver Team finished 3rd overall, just two shots out of first place. They shot a 59. Since this was a team event, there were not individual finishes.
Lyliana Gonzalez, senior, continued to lead the way for the Silver Team. Gonzalez shot a 65 on the day. She had seven pars and nine bogeys.
Sophomore Hayleigh McConnell had the second best round for the Silver Team. She shot a 74. Her round included one birdie, two pars, and ten bogeys.
Lillie Mikes continued to improve her game as well. The senior shot an 81. She had four pars and three bogeys.
Rounding out the scoring for the Silver Team was Sophomore Whitley Truett. Truett had an 83. She had ten bogeys.
The Red Team finished 4th in the tournament. They shot a 67.
Sophomore Kaylee Holler continued to show her improvement shooting a 73. She had five pars and four bogeys.
Close behind her was fellow Sophomore Emory Jolivet. Jolivet shot a 74. She also had four pars. She had 11 bogeys as well.
Freshman Caitlin Stringer continued to show her growth, shooting an 87. She had one birdie, two pars, and four bogeys.
Finishing off the scoring for the Red Team was senior Araceli Young. Young had an 84 which included nine bogeys.
Both teams will not play again until the week before Thanksgiving break. They will be at Cottonwood Golf Course for the Waco ISD HOT Tournament on November 19.
There was also a costume contest with the Halloween Hack 'Em Tournament. The Silver Team, dressed as bugs took home first place and the Red Team, dressed as princesses took home second.
