Lake Belton competed at the UIL District 6-5A varsity wrestling tournament this week and came away with several strong performances and three regional qualifiers.
Kameryn Vaden led the way for Lake Belton with a runner-up finish at 190. Vaden wrestled her way to the finals and placed second overall, turning in one of the top performances of the tournament for the team and punching her ticket to regionals.
Carl Huffman also earned a regional spot at 138 after finishing third. Huffman battled through a tough bracket and wrestled well throughout the day to secure his place moving on.
On the girls side, Anna Huffman added another qualifier for Lake Belton by placing fourth at 170. She put together a solid tournament and earned her spot at the next round.
Lake Belton will also take several alternates to regionals. Andrew Moore placed fifth at 113, Joseph Casmus placed fourth at 190 and will advance as an alternate, Michelle Hoffman finished fifth at 135, and Lorelai Scallorn placed fifth at 235.
Regionals will begin Friday at Ellis Field House in Dallas, as Lake Belton looks to build on its district success and keep the postseason moving.
