The Lake Belton JV Silver squad battled for 75 hard-fought minutes Friday night but came up just short in a 1-0 loss to Belton High School.
In what was a tightly contested matchup from the opening whistle, both teams showcased strong defensive organization and disciplined play in the midfield. Lake Belton controlled stretches of possession and created several promising opportunities in the attacking third, but the Broncos were unable to find the breakthrough goal.
The defensive unit stood tall for most of the night, limiting Belton’s chances and stepping up in key moments to clear dangerous balls out of the box. The midfield worked tirelessly to win second balls and transition quickly, while the forwards applied steady pressure to keep the opposing back line on its heels.
With just five minutes remaining in regulation, Belton capitalized on a late opportunity to score the lone goal of the match. Despite the setback, Lake Belton continued to press forward in the closing minutes, showing resilience and determination until the final whistle.
Though the result didn’t fall their way, the JV Silver team demonstrated grit, composure, and growth in a game that could have gone either direction. The narrow margin is a testament to how competitive the group continues to be as they move deeper into district play.
Lake Belton will look to regroup, build off the strong defensive effort, and bounce back in their next outing.
