The Broncos struck first with a run in the top of the opening frame, but the momentum shifted instantly. Hutto exploded for five runs in the bottom of the first, leaving Lake Belton staring at a 5-1 deficit.
Undeterred, the Broncos began their climb in the third inning, plating three runs to pull within striking distance. The comeback was completed in the top of the fourth; trailing 5-4, Alana Martinez stepped to the plate and delivered a clutch single that drove in two runs, giving Lake Belton their first lead since the opening minutes.
Mecca Jefferson led the team with 3 total bases, highlighted by a towering triple. Hayleigh McConnell added a double of her own to help ignite the rally.
The Broncos remained aggressive on the dirt, with Briley Shirley, Hayleigh McConnell, and Kennedy Jacobs each swiping a base.
The JV Broncos will look to carry the momentum from this gritty "comeback" win as they suit it back up next Tuesday in Troy.
