Broncos Battle to a 4-2 Finish at Central Texas Turf Wars

The Lake Belton Broncos wrapped up their tournament season with an 4-2 record at the Central Texas Turf Wars. It was a weekend defined by offensive explosions and resilient pitching, as the Broncos outscored their opponents 58–27 over six games.

Game-by-Game Breakdown:

Game 1: Leander Lions 7, Lake Belton 2. The Broncos opened the tournament with a tough defensive outing, committing six errors that proved costly. Highlight: Nani Rubio provided a spark with a double, while Isabell Magana was a menace on the basepaths, swiping three bags.

Game 2: Lake Belton 7, Brock Eagles 3. The Broncos bounced back behind a stellar start from Lilliana Herrera (4 IP, 6 SO). Highlight: Avery Park launched a home run and tallied 5 total bases. Analicia Diaz added a double and an RBI to help secure the first win of the weekend.

Game 3: Lake Belton 15, Steele Knights 0. In a complete blowout, the Broncos' offense was unstoppable while Herrera and Natalie Hosch combined for a three-inning shutout. Highlight: Extra-base hits from Analicia Diaz, Briley Updyke, and Avery Park (3B) fueled a 15-run barrage. The team also recorded 8 stolen bases in just three innings.

Game 4: Liberty Hill Panthers 9, Lake Belton 8. In the most competitive game of the weekend, Lake Belton fell in a heartbreaker on a walk-off home run. Highlight: Alaysha Williams went deep with a home run, and Brysen Gott added a double. Despite the loss, the Broncos proved they could hang punch-for-punch with a powerhouse opponent.

Game 5: Lake Belton 14, Lampasas Badgers 4. The Broncos got back in the win column with a dominant double-digit victory led by Natalie Hosch in the circle (4 IP, 5 SO). Highlight: Maliyah Gooden fell just short of the cycle with a triple and 4 total bases. Alaysha Williams and Avery Park both doubled in the rout.

Game 6: Lake Belton 12, Glenn Grizzlies 4. Lake Belton closed the tournament in style, fueled by a massive power display from the middle of the order. Highlight: Alaysha Williams put on a clinic, hitting two home runs and recording 8 total bases. Kayleigh Jackson slammed the door shut with 3 scoreless innings of relief.

Notes:

Alaysha Williams was the standout power hitter, launching three home runs over the weekend, including a two-homer performance against Glenn.

Avery Park also cleared the fences with a home run against Brock and a triple against Steele.

Speed on the Basepaths: Isabell Magana was a constant threat, racking up 9 stolen bases across the tournament.

The pitching staff showed great depth. Lilliana Herrera and Kayleigh Jackson anchored the rotation, with Herrera notably throwing two scoreless innings in the Steele shutout and Jackson providing reliable relief, including three shutout innings to close out the tournament against Glenn. Natalie Hosch picked up a solid win against Lampasas, striking out five.

With tournament season officially in the rearview mirror, the Broncos are sharpening their focus for district play. They travel to Troy this Tuesday night to take on the Trojanettes in a pre-season tune-up.
