The Varsity Boys Golf Team competed in the rain-shortened Marvin Dameron Memorial Tournament at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco on March 6th. The team finished in 11th place in the 26 team field against some of the top teams in Texas. The Broncos were led by Senior Jackson Null who overcame the 30 mph winds to post an excellent 79. Senior Gavin Kerr was close on Jackson’s heels needing only 81 swings to finish 2nd on the team. Right behind Gavin, senior Miles Parker fought through the breeze to turn in a score of 84. Senior Brayden Hoff fought his way to a score of 92. The team was rounded out with junior Levi Tarrence-Crotty who shot a 96.
The Bronco’s next five boys played at the Dameron as well. The gusting winds made scoring difficult, but the boys persevered, playing through the difficult conditions. Junior Kaiden Beaty and freshman Jackson Dolotina set the pace with identical scores of 92. Just one stroke back, Sophomore Weston Minzak posted a good score of 93. Playing in just his third tournament, freshman Jacob Sullivan carded a 97, and another newcomer to the team, freshman Cole Russell (also playing in just his third tournament) broke the 100 stroke barrier by turning in a 99.
The boys are excited to tee it up again at B.I.S.D. invitational on March 26th at Stonetree Golf Course in Killeen.
