The Lake Belton Freshman Red volleyball team was up before sunrise on Saturday as they traveled to the Georgetown ISD Sub-Varsity Poppyfest Tournament.

The Broncos opened the day with a match against Manor. Despite a few service errors, Lake Belton maintained its momentum and secured a decisive 25-9 victory in the first set. Ella Davies-Honea led the way from the service line with 11 aces, while Macey Brent provided a strong offensive presence in the middle. Kinley Pitts added six assists to help fuel the Broncos’ offense. The team’s collective effort carried Lake Belton to a 25-13 victory in the second set.

In their second match of the day, the Freshman Red team faced the Liberty Hill Panthers. The Broncos battled throughout the match but were unable to regain momentum, falling 10-25 and 13-25. Brent contributed three kills, while Pitts recorded six assists and four digs.

In their final match of the tournament, the Broncos squared off against the East View Patriots. The matchup featured competitive rallies and several point-for-point exchanges. East View’s consistency helped the Patriots edge out the Broncos in a tightly contested first set, 27-25. Lake Belton continued to battle in the second set, working to overcome an early deficit, but was unable to generate the scoring run needed to force a third set, ultimately falling 23-25. Sophie Guyette made a strong impact in the match with several solid swings and three kills. Pitts finished with seven assists and seven digs, while Carly Gonzales added three aces.

The Georgetown ISD Sub-Varsity Poppyfest Tournament provided the Lake Belton Freshman Red team with valuable competition and an opportunity to continue developing as a team. The Broncos demonstrated determination, teamwork, and resilience throughout the day and gained important experience that will help them moving forward.
