The Lake Belton Freshman Volleyball team traveled to Georgetown to compete in the Poppy Fest Sub-varsity Tournament, putting together a weekend filled with competitive matches, strong defensive performances, and plenty of opportunities for growth.

The Broncos opened tournament play against Liberty Hill, falling in two sets, 25–17 and 25–18. Despite the final score, Lake Belton showed tremendous effort on the defensive side of the net. MJ Navarro and Vivian Page were outstanding in the back row, constantly chasing down balls and refusing to let rallies end easily. Their relentless defense kept the Broncos battling throughout the match.

Offensively, Camryn Anthony and Clara Smith provided a consistent attacking presence. Both hitters delivered aggressive swings and timely kills, putting pressure on the Liberty Hill defense and giving Lake Belton opportunities to stay within striking distance.

The Broncos' second match saw them defeating Manor in two dominant sets, both by a score of 25–12. The Broncos' serving game was a major difference-maker in the match. MJ Navarro, Ava Cavazos, and Taylee Conway combined for an impressive 15 aces, putting constant pressure on Manor's serve receive and helping Lake Belton control the match from the service line.

The final match was against Vandegrift, where Lake Belton again competed hard but came up short, 25–20 and 25–23. The match was much closer than the final record might indicate, with the Broncos battling throughout both sets.

Ella Phillips played a key role as the team's setter, consistently putting the hitters in strong scoring positions. Her ability to distribute the ball and keep the offense organized helped Lake Belton remain competitive and keep the match tight from start to finish.

The Poppy Fest Tournament provided the Lake Belton freshmen with valuable experience against quality competition while also showcasing the team's defensive toughness, aggressive attacking, strong setting, and ability to finish strong.
