The Lake Belton Freshman Silver volleyball team stepped up in competition Saturday as the Broncos competed in the Junior Varsity Division of the Salado Sub-Varsity Tournament, gaining valuable experience while battling against older and more experienced competition throughout the day.

Lake Belton opened the tournament against the Salado JV team and came out ready to compete. The Broncos battled throughout the opening set before narrowly falling 27-25 in a back-and-forth battle.
The second set proved more challenging, as Salado pulled away for a 25-7 victory. Despite the result, the Broncos continued to compete and looked to gain valuable experience against a strong JV opponent.
Taylee Conway, London Jackson and Camryn Anthony provided plenty of offensive energy for Lake Belton, attacking aggressively and finding ways to put points on the scoreboard. Their willingness to take big swings kept the Broncos attacking and looking for opportunities throughout the match.

The Broncos bounced back in their second match of the tournament, putting together one of their strongest performances of the day against Rogers JV. Lake Belton controlled the opening set, earning a convincing 25-10 victory before closing out the match with a 25-21 win in the second set. At the net, Clara Smith was aggressive throughout the match, delivering powerful and well-placed swings that consistently challenged the Rogers defense. Smith's attacking presence helped keep the Broncos in control offensively. Behind the offense was Ella Phillips, who did an outstanding job directing the attack from the setter position. Phillips delivered countless well-placed balls, giving her teammates opportunities to attack and keeping the Lake Belton offense moving.
The two-set victory gave the Broncos a strong boost heading into their final match of the tournament.

Lake Belton closed out the tournament against the Copperas Cove JV B team. The Broncos battled hard but ultimately fell 25-18 and 25-17.
Although the Broncos came up short, the final match was a true all-around team effort. Players continued to compete for every point, communicate with one another, and apply what they had learned throughout the tournament.

The Broncos finished the day with one victory and two tough losses, but more importantly, they walked away with valuable experience, continued growth, and plenty of positives to build on moving forward.
