The Lake Belton Freshman Red volleyball team took the court Saturday at the Salado Sub-Varsity Tournament, competing against tough competition and putting together a strong showing throughout the day.

The Broncos opened tournament play against Legacy Ranch and wasted little time establishing their offensive presence. Lake Belton battled through two competitive sets, earning a 25-23, 25-19 victory to start the tournament. Aubrie Judd helped set the tone offensively, showing a renewed confidence at the net and refusing to shy away from big swings. Her aggressive approach gave the Broncos another weapon as they worked to keep pressure on the Legacy Ranch defense.

Lake Belton carried that momentum into its second match, putting together a dominant performance against Rogers. The Broncos controlled the match from start to finish, earning a convincing 25-7, 25-8 sweep. Serving was a major difference-maker for Lake Belton, with Kallie Morrison putting together an outstanding performance from the service line. Morrison recorded an impressive 14 aces, helping the Broncos build an early lead and maintain control throughout both sets.

The Broncos saved their most competitive match for last, facing Copperas Cove in a three-set battle. Lake Belton dropped the opening set 26-24 but responded by fighting back to take the second set 25-23, forcing a deciding third set. Cove ultimately pulled away in the final set, earning a 25-16 victory to take the match. Despite the loss, the Broncos showed tremendous fight throughout the three-set battle.
Defensively, Kinley Pitts refused to let the ball hit the floor, recording 15 timely digs and repeatedly keeping rallies alive for Lake Belton.
At the net, the entire front row became a force. Carly Gonzales, Janya Houston, Macey Brent, Karina Carranza, and Sophie Guyette consistently attacked with confidence, delivering big swings, continuous pressure, and key kills throughout the match.

The Freshman Red team finished the tournament with two victories and one hard-fought loss, gaining valuable experience and continuing to build confidence as the season progresses. From dominant serving to relentless defense and an aggressive attack at the net, the Broncos showed that they are becoming a team willing to compete for every point.
