The Lake Belton Boys Varsity Silver and Varsity Red golf teams started their season at The Ellison Invitational at Stonetree Golf Course on Wednesday the 23rd of September. The boys got off to a great start posting team scores of 312 and 349, respectively. The Varsity Silver Team brought home the third place plaque, and the Varsity Red team finished in the middle of the pack of a 23-team field.
The Varsity Silver Team was led by freshman Hayes Pethtel, who carded a fantastic score of two over par 74. Hayes’ score included a great front-nine score of 34 (par 37 on the front nine). Hayes started the front by birdying three of his first four holes, then coasted home with five straight pars. Close behind Hayes on the Varsity Silver team, Junior Brooks Hull posted a super score of 75. Brooks proved to be incredibly consistent with one birdie four bogies, and 13 pars. Coming in third on the team, sophomore Jackson Dolotina carded a really nice score of 80. Jackson proved to be very resilient with a bounce-back back nine. After struggling just a bit on the front with a score of five over 42, Jackson came back strong with a great 38 on the more difficult back nine. Playing right behind Jackson, sophomore Heston Seideman turned in a really good score of 83. Heston’s highlight of the round was a very near ace on 145 yard par three fourth hole. Rounding out the team, senior Kaiden Beaty had a score of 93.
The Broncos Varsity Red team also teed it up today at Stonetree, and had a nice round of golf too. The Varsity Red team was led by senior Levi Terrance-Crotty and freshman Jett Turner, who carded identical 83 in their inaugural tournament of 2026. Levi played very steady golf with scores of 42 and 41 on the two nines. Jett, in his first ever high school tournament, got off to a great start needing only 39 strokes on his first nine holes. Third on the team, sophomore Acelin Wycoff posted a score of 89. Acelin’s resilience was on display, carding a 41 on the back after battling through a rough 48 on his front nine. Senior Duncan Moore posted a score of 94, and senior Aiden Newby rounded out the scores with a 96.
The Bronco’s next tournament will be the 27 hole Bobby Peschel Memorial Tournament hosted by Salado High School at Mill Creek Golf Course on October the 7th.
