The Lake Belton Girls Powerlifting team clinched the 4th position at their regional meet held in Elgin. This significant achievement highlights the team's hard work and sets the stage for an exciting state competition in Frisco.
Leading the team at the meet, Jaya Lisenbe stood out by winning her weight class. Lisenbe's victory not only earned her a gold medal but also a coveted spot at the state powerlifting meet in Frisco. Accompanying Lisenbe to the state meet are teammates Vic Shimabukuro and Madyson Updyke, who displayed remarkable resilience and strength at the regional meet. Shimabukuro, finishing fourth in her weight class, and Updyke, securing the fifth position in hers, both met the state qualifying totals, ensuring their advancement to the state competition.
The regional meet also saw notable performances from other team members who won medals in their respective weight classes. Emma Scholz, Macie Solis, Emily Bachicha, Michelle Lamar, Danielle Esquivel, and Allie Uzzell each secured top-five finishes. Although these athletes did not meet the state qualifying totals, their contributions were crucial to the team's overall success and exemplified the spirit of determination that defines Lake Belton.
Lifters Kaitlyn Maus, Moriah Rydberg, Aleyna Castor, and Elizabeth Rutherford improved their regional rankings, displaying significant progress and potential for future competitions. Their efforts, although not resulting in medals this time, are indicative of the promising future of Lake Belton Girls Powerlifting.
As the team celebrates their achievements and looks forward to the state competition, Jaya Lisenbe, Madyson Updyke, and Vic Shimabukuro prepare to represent Lake Belton at the State Powerlifting Meet in Frisco on Saturday, March 16.
