The Lady Bronco Golf Silver Team and medalists from the Red Team played at the Ellison Golf Tournament on Tuesday, September 24 at Stonetree Golf Club. Stonetree will be the site of the 2025 Girls District Tournament, so it was an important for the golfers to have the opportunity to play the course.
At the end of the day, Silver Team finished 6th. Only three members of the Red Team played in the tournament. According to UIL, it takes at least four players to make a team, so they played as medalists, or individuals. It wasn't the outcome they had hoped for, but a lot of things were learned and some personal records were set or broken.
Kat Moore lead the Silver Team with a 96. It was three strokes better than her first tournament of the year. She had two pars.
Lyliana Gonzalez shot an even 100 for the Silver Team. She also improved from her first tournament of the year by four strokes. She had one birdie and one par.
Junior Suellen Tillis shot a 118 and set a new personal best low round. Her previous low round was last week at Tanglewood and last year at ColoVista. She bested her score by 5 strokes. Tillis also had one par.
Lillie Mikes and Lexie Holler rounded out the scoring for the Silver Team.
Medalists for the Red Team were Freshmen Aurora Nance and Kaylee Carubelli and Junior Nena Tamarez.
Nance shot a 117 in her high school debut. Carubelli had a 125. Nena Tamarez set a new personal best with a 118. Her previous lowest round was at Sammons in the spring of 2024. She also had not only her first par, but her first two pars!
Silver and Red Teams will join the Bronco Team on October 10 at the Lady Bronco Invitational at Sammons Golf Course in Temple for the next tournaments.
