The Lake Belton Junior Varsity Red football team faced off against the College Station High Cougars at their home field. Coming back from a bye week, the Broncos were determined to enhance their performance this season. Captains Joseph Casmus and Ke’odderick Mayo exhibited exceptional leadership both on and off the field.
The game started as a defensive struggle, with the defense forcing a turnover by Roger Hunt. The Bronco offense, led by quarterbacks Jayden Dent and Ke’odderick Mayo, utilized a strong running game led by Jack Maybee to secure their first score of the night. The defense faced a formidable Cougar offense but showcased a solid performance, including an interception by Deandre Griffith and a forced fumble by Jeffery Gonzales, with recoveries by Darius Ware and Blake Baty. Cohen Beaird and Peyton Parcus delivered crucial sacks, while Jamari Haye provided strong return yards on special teams. In a thrilling final drive, Jayden Dent sprinted for a 94-yard touchdown, only to have it called back due to a penalty. Undeterred, two plays later Dent scored an 87-yard touchdown run. AJ Peters had a scramble on the right end side to  convert the two-point play, showcasing the team's resilience.
Despite their valiant effort, the Broncos ultimately fell short in a hard-fought 34-14 battle. The team will now hit the road as they embark on district play.
