The Lake Belton Junior Varsity Red football team faced off against the Leander Glynn Grizzlies at Bronco Field. Captains Ji’yson Sherman and Ezekiel Smith provided exemplary leadership for the team throughout the game.
The defense set the tone early, preventing the Grizzlies' high-powered ground game from gaining momentum. Standout performances from Joseph Casmus, Peyton Parcus, Brendan Nash, AJ Peters, Prince Kabuya, and Kaleb Leza resulted in tackles for losses and crucial turnovers. Prince Kabuya's sack and fumble recovery, along with interceptions by AJ Peters and Sebastian Dolcines fumble recovery, showcased the defense's dominance.
On the offensive side, Quarterback tandem Jayden Dent and Ke’odderick Mayo  led the team with precision passing. Receivers Austin Dodd, Richard Groves, Ezekiel Smith, Kaleb Firmin, Joshua Torres, and Aidan Butler made key catches, opening up opportunities for running back Jack Maybee to score from long distances. Austin Dodd's impressive run after the catch and Jayden Dent's 69-yard touchdown run highlighted the team's offensive prowess.
The Broncos' offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage, paving the way for successful runs by Ke’odderick Mayo to close out the game. Broncos saw several successful extra points tries from Hudson Jez.
The team's cohesive performance resulted in a convincing 26-0 victory over the Grizzlies.
The Lake Belton Junior Varsity Red football team will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming district game at home next week.
