The Lake Belton Junior Varsity Red football team faced off against Cedar Park on the road. Captains Keagan Hedrick and Braiden Reich displayed exemplary leadership throughout the game. Although the offense showed promise at the start, costly mistakes hindered their progress in the first half drives. The defense rose to the occasion, making it difficult for Cedar Park's offense to gain momentum. Standout tackles were made by Joseph Casmus, Peyton Parcus, Brendan Nash, Blake Baty, Roger Hunt, and Keagan Hedrick. Despite this, Cedar Park managed to score on the last play of the half, taking an early 6-0 lead. They later extended their lead to 14-0. The Broncos fought back with quarterbacks Jayden Dent and Ke’odderick Mayo leading the charge. The  strong blocking from the front and perimeter allowed Jack Maybee to score the first touchdown, with Hudson Jez successfully converting the extra point. The kicking team managed to get an onside recovery by Sebastian Dolcines. This gave the offense another opportunity. The offense went down the field with the ground game capped by Jayden Dent running for a touchdown, bringing the score to 13-14. A successful two-point conversion by Dent further solidified the lead at 15-14. Despite a valiant effort, the Broncos ultimately fell short with a final score of 20-15. The team will now regroup and prepare for their upcoming district game at home.
