The Lake Belton Junior Varsity Red football team was home against the Georgetown Eagles in a challenging matchup. Captains Syhr Jones and Brendan Nash displayed exemplary leadership throughout the game. The offense showed promise early on, effectively moving the ball both on the ground and through the air. Quarterbacks Jayden Dent and Ke’odderick Mayo, supported by strong blocking, led the Broncos to their first score with a run from Jayden Dent. Hudson Jez successfully converted the point after, and later added a 31-yard field goal in the first half to extend the lead to 10-0. The defense, led by standout players Joseph Casmus, Peyton Parcus, Blake Baty, and Keagan Hedrick, made crucial tackles for losses. AJ Peter’s interception in the second half was a highlight. Despite Georgetown managing to score a safety and late points, the Broncos fought hard to reclaim the lead but ultimately fell short in a nail-biting 14-10 loss. The team will conclude the season on the road, reflecting on their hard-fought efforts and looking ahead to future successes.
