The Lake Belton High School girls' basketball team continued their impressive season with a well-earned 47-35 victory over Burnet High School on November 25. The Broncos showcased balanced scoring, solid defense, and clutch plays to secure the win.
The Broncos stormed out of the gates in the first quarter, outscoring Burnet 11-5. With aggressive defense and sharp execution, Lake Belton extended their lead by halftime, heading into the locker room up 23-13. Although Burnet fought back with a strong third quarter, narrowing the margin with an 18-11 run, Lake Belton’s resilience in the fourth quarter sealed the game.
Key Players and Performances
Alexa King delivered a standout performance, leading the team with 14 points. King’s ability to finish in the paint and knock down clutch free throws (4-for-4) provided much-needed stability on offense.
Natalie Maldonado contributed with 7 points and led the team in steals (6), proving to be a defensive force. Her high-energy play disrupted Burnet’s offense, resulting in fast-break opportunities for Lake Belton.
Amara Sanchez added 5 points and led the team in offensive rebounds (5), creating extra possessions that proved critical in maintaining the lead. Sanchez’s hustle and grit were instrumental in stifling Burnet’s momentum.
The versatile Layla King chipped in 6 points while contributing 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and a solid defensive effort.

Lake Belton’s defensive intensity was evident throughout the game, holding Burnet to just 35 points. The Broncos recorded 13 deflections and 13 steals, forcing turnovers that translated into easy scoring opportunities.
