The Freshman Lady Broncos showcased resilience and determination as they participated in a one-day tournament hosted at Georgetown High School. While the results may not have been in their favor, the team demonstrated growth and grit across three challenging games.
Game 1: Georgetown High School
The Lady Broncos faced a tough opening matchup against the hosting Georgetown team, resulting in a 52-11 loss. Despite the challenging game, Courtney Anderson led the Broncos with 5 points. Raija Christian, Makayla Garcia, and Samia Mercado each added 2 points, contributing to the team’s effort.
Game 2: Westlake High School
The second game proved to be a much closer contest, with the Lady Broncos battling Westlake to the final buzzer. Although they fell just short with a 27-22 loss, the team showed improved energy and teamwork. Samia Mercado stepped up with an impressive 8-point performance, while Courtney Anderson chipped in 4 points to keep the Broncos competitive.
Game 3: Jarrell High School
The final game of the day saw the Lady Broncos take on Jarrell High School. Despite a 60-31 loss, the team continued to fight until the end. A’Brielle Harrison led the scoring effort with 8 points, followed by Ella Chamberlin with 6 points. Kylee Stevens and Courtney Anderson each added 4 points, and Raija Christian rounded out the scoring with 3 points.
While the tournament results weren’t what the Lady Broncos hoped for, the experience provided valuable lessons and highlighted key areas for growth. The team’s determination and refusal to give up in the face of tough competition reflect the strong foundation they are building for the future.
