The Lake Belton High School swim team delivered an exceptional performance at the KISD Last Splash meet on January 11, 2025, securing the top combined team score with 316.5 points. The girls’ 200-yard medley relay team of Rowan Sebek, Brooke Phillips, Gweneth Clark, and Christine Kim set the tone for the meet with a first-place finish. On the boys’ side, the boys’ 200-yard medley relay team of Elijah Firkins, Kaleb Vazquez, Samuel Stevens, and Jacob Gerakos placed third with a strong performance. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of David Stewart III, Conner Florea, Joshua Naumann, and Elijah Firkins earned another first-place finish with a time of 1:40.32. The boys’ 400-yard freestyle relay team (Stewart III, Florea, Kieran Scott, and Samuel Stevens) also delivered a strong victory in 3:43.16.
Individually, Christine Kim had a great meet, finishing first in the girls’ 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.24 and second in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:06.51. Brooke Phillips claimed first place in the girls’ 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:31.08, while Gweneth Clark added two top finishes by winning the girls’ 500-yard freestyle in 5:33.55 and placing second in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:19.99. Elizabeth Simeroth also made her mark with a second-place finish in the girls’ 50-yard freestyle at 27.39.
The boys' team saw impressive individual finishes as well. David Stewart III secured first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.22 and a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.92). Conner Florea claimed first in the boys’ 100-yard freestyle at 53.91, while Samuel Stevens followed closely behind in second at 55.77. Kaleb Vazquez finished fifth in the boys' 500-yard freestyle but contributed with key points in the relays. Overall, Lake Belton swimmers displayed their strength across both individual and relay events, solidifying their dominance in the pool and setting a strong foundation as we head to Districts next Friday!
