In a hard-fought defensive battle, the Lake Belton JV Silver squad secured a gritty 1-0 victory over crosstown rival Belton High School on Friday night.

The first half was a back and forth battle, with both teams playing well defensively. Despite several players playing in positions they weren’t accustomed to due to recent injuries, the Broncos showed relentless determination, making key stops and battling for every possession.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Emmanuel Herrera delivered a perfectly placed free kick into the box. Jacob Boone rose above the defense and powered a header into the back of the net, giving Lake Belton the decisive goal. From there, the Broncos’ defense held strong, closing out the match with discipline and heart.

It was a true team effort, with players stepping up in unfamiliar roles but never backing down from the challenge. Their willingness to sacrifice for the team proved to be the difference in a well-earned victory.

The Broncos will look to carry this momentum into their next match on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. when they take on Ellison High School at Bronco Field.
