The Lake Belton Boys powerlifting team traveled to Joshua, TX to compete in the Division 1 Region 2 championships this past weekend. These young men were able to RISEUP to a 3rd place team finish. 8 Broncos represented their school, community, and families with outstanding performances. These performances were highlighted by three exceptional young men that had phenomenal days at the platform.

Juniors Seth Fritz and Christian Morales earned their right to compete in the state meet, both for the second time in their careers on Saturday. Fritz earned a 3rd place finish in his weight class by crushing the coveted state qualifying total of 850 with his PR total of 945! His performance was highlighted by an astounding 240 lb bench press; a weight over twice his bodyweight! Morales responded like a champion on Saturday placing 2nd place in his weight class and earning his spot in Abilene. Morales totaled 1035 lbs. with an amazing PR in squat at 400 lbs! This performance is especially satisfying for Christian after missing an expected opportunity to state last year by having a disappointing day on the deadlift platform. Christian came back determined to get back to Abilene and after each of his openers, he was on his way.

The two juniors will be joined in Abilene by senior Adam Walden. The super heavyweight became the back to back region 2 champion in his weight class and earned his 3rd trip to the state meet. Adam totaled a PR 1650 lbs. highlighted by his career best bench press of 425 lbs. Lake Belton powerlifting has been put on the map in many ways by Adam, and we are excited that he gets one more opportunity to compete.

Other notable performances at the meet include:
Freshman Cooper Arnold- 915 total
Sophomore Jacob Johnson- 1380 total
Junior Caleb Ighomon- 1085 total (PR)
Junior Brett Harmon- 1495 total (PR)
Senior Dylan Wellington- 1160 total

The state meet will take place in Abilene on Saturday, March 23rd at the Taylor County Expo Center.
